This is the sort of thing that makes both my eyebrows rise in unison. If you’re a combined baseball fanatic and history buff, look out, yours will probably do the same.
At the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory in downtown Louisville, you can view the original baseballs that have been signed by every president of the United States from Teddy Roosevelt to George W. Bush.
The display will be available through November 16.
Below are a few Did You Know’s that you may not have known. Then again, you look pretty sharp, you may have known them all.
Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory Trivia:
- The large (and I mean LARGE) bat beside Slugger Museum weighs approximately 68,000 pounds. The inside is hollow and could hold 30,000 gallons of coffee. (Okay, it could hold any beverage, but the thought of 30,000 gallons of coffee thrills me so, I had to go with it.)
- The bat is 120 ft. long and 9 ft. diameter at the base; 3 ft. 6 in. diameter at the handle with a 6 ft. 6 in. diameter knob.
- According to the Slugger Museum website, an average professional baseball player goes through 100 bats in one season.
- The Louisville Slugger Factory produces pproximately one million bats a year. During peak production times about 1500 bats are made per day.

During the years we lived in Metro-Louisville, one of the places I enjoyed the most was Slugger Museum. It’s a place that no self-respecting baseball fan would want to miss. If that’s not incentive enough – keep this in mind. There are over 20 Starbucks in Louisville.
You know, sometimes I miss the Ville so much it hurts….
