The Kentucky Lake Bluegrass Festival 2008

The Bluegrass Blog has a great post about The 2008 Kentucky Lake Bluegrass Festival.  You’ll want to read every word so you can get as excited and worked up as we are.

June 13th and 14th are marked on my calendar and it’d take two acts of God to keep me from this festival.  No, God, that wasn’t a challenge….just a comment.  Just a small, little observation as it were.

Bobby Flay Is the Official Host of the Kentucky Derby Party

Uber Popular Food Network chef and Restraunt owner Bobby Flay has been named the official host of “Kentucky Derby Party.”

 He gives some great  suggestions for entertaining on Derby Day on the Derby Party Web Site.  Click on the Entertain navigational tab, then you’ll find a choice of a Party Checklist, Derby Traditions, Decor and Themes. 

As for recipes (the good stuff), they’re divided into the following categories:   Main Courses, Southern Sides, Desserts, and Lucky Libations.

The 2007 Kentucky State Fair

 

The Kentucky State Fair is in full swing and will keep swinging until the 26th.  If you’re anywhere within reach, you’ll want to get in on the fun.  Click HERE for more information.

Something I’ve really gotten a kick out on their website is the posters for the fair - past and present.  I wish I could find them for sale somewhere - they’d be gorgeous framed, especially the ones from 2004, 2001, and 2002.  2005 - 2007 would be kicky fun in a basement or den.

The Kentucky Black Bear Festival

The Fourth Annual Kentucky Black Bear Festival at Kingdom Come State Park will be held on May 11 & 12, 2007.
