The gorgeous renovated golf course at General Burnside Island is located on an island surrounded by Lake Cumberland in Somerset.
Designer Brian Ault also designed Dale Hollow’s Golf Course and Hidden Cove, which are both recognized by Golf Digest. At 6,394 yards, the course features Zoysia fairways, bent grass trees and greens.

General Burnside Island State Park was named for the Civil War General Ambrose Burnside. Burnside led patrols along the Cumberland River keeping vigilant lookout for Confederate soldiers.
The Park offers camping, fishing, picnicking (with grills, two picnic shelters – one with a restroom – picnic tables, and a playground), and has a six lane launching boat ramp for easy access for a fun-filled day on the beautiful lake.

I’m creating a photo album for General Burnside and will be adding other pictures I took yesterday in the next few days. I was just especially anxious to get these pictures up – as a means of encouraging you to get out and golf at one of the State Park System’s gorgeous courses (See Kentucky State Park Golf Courses). The weather is absolutely IDEAL for it and the scenery will take your breath away.
We have the pictures to prove it!
See General Burnside State Park for more information.
