Larry, Darrell & Darrell’s BBQ in Mayfield Kentucky
I have a restaurant to tell you about today and you honestly need to write down the information. I’ll wait here while you go get your pen and paper.
Some of the best BBQ you could ever hope to eat can be found in a very little, very unassuming building located at 210 S 6th St, Mayfield Kentucky. It’s Larry, Darrell & Darrell’s BBQ and it couldn’t have been better if Tyler Florence had cooked it and Angelina Jolie had served it.
The pulled pork BBQ sandwich was so good that I grieved over each bite, because it meant I was closer to the end. It was everything you could hope for in a BBQ sandwich – and then some.
As you know, when I go to a restaurant, while I love the main attraction of a meal, I’m all about the sides. It’s my philosophy that you can tell a lot about a restaurant by their sides. If they focus all of their attention on the meat and serve up crummy side dishes, it shows that they simply don’t care.
I want a restaurant that obviously puts a great deal of attention into every item on their menu (think Applebee’s, Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s…). Larry, Darrell and Darrell’s had fantastic side dishes. Their baked beans (the first side dish I try at any BBQ restaurant) were A+ wonderful. They were unique and stood out as something special. I also loved their potato salad.
They had Corn Nuggets which were a pleasant surprise, you don’t see them on many menus. They were beyond spectacular.
In addition to pulled pork, Larry, Darrell & Darrell’s BBQ serves BBQ ham, chicken and ribs. BBQ ham? How delicious does that sound?! I’ll take a large plate of BBQ ham, please. With a side of baked beans. And Potato Salad. And Okra. Could you throw in a pulled pork BBQ sandwich for the ride home? A girl’s gotta have a plan.
Their sides include Baked Beans, Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Fries, Corn Nuggets, and Fried Okra.
The next time you’re headed to the wonderful Land Between the Lakes area, Louisville, Owensboro, Lexington, Beaver Dam, Madisonville….. wherever… make a wide swing and have lunch or dinner at Larry, Darrell, and Darrell’s BBQ in Mayfield, Kentucky.
Assuming you had coffee that morning, it’ll be the second-smartest thing you did all day.
