February 6, 2009 – a day I needed like I can’t even begin to tell you! Like most Kentuckians, we’d weathered the ice storm and all of the headaches that went with it – and, like many we lost a much beloved pet during it all (our beautiful and sweet 20 year old cat, Prissy).
So, what does God send my way? A trip for my husband and me to the Grand Ole Opry. But not just any trip…. Kentucky’s own Montgomery Gentry was there!
Let me tell you, I love myself some Montgomery Gentry. Love them like 13 year old girls love the Jonas Brothers. I know every single word to every single one of their songs and have each of their cds. I actually need to replace a few of them because I’ve flat worn them out. For me, there is simply no performer – singer, group, musician… anything that tops Montgomery Gentry. There are a few that share their top branch (Faith Hill, Kanye West, Gwen Stefani) but none are above them.
Oh, yeah, it was a trip I’ll remember all of my life. They were spectacular, of course. They’re the essence of entertainment and I’m convinced that no one enjoys being onstage any more than these two do.
We also saw Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, and my mom’s all time favorite group, The Oak Ridge Boys. They brought the house down with “The Boys are Back” and if it weren’t for my Kentucky boys, they’d have stolen the show. Sorry, guys, it’s a Kentucky thang.
Click on each of the pictures in the post for larger views. I did the best I could – but it’s hard to take pictures while singing and seat dancing. Not impossible… but hard.
Thanks again, Michael, for a wonderful evening. I got to see Montgomery Gentry! I still can’t believe it!
