Whoot. For the second week in a row, a UK basketball player has been named the SEC Player of the Week. Last week it was Jodie Meeks and this week it’s forward Patrick Patterson.
Patterson averaged 30 points and 12.5 rebounds per game last week in wins against Tennessee State and Florida Atlantic.
His back-to-back double-doubles gave him eight for the season. Eight! He’s now tied with Randolph Morris for 26th on UK’s all-time double-doubles list. Mark my words, he’ll be moving up that list like Beyonce moves up Billboard lists.
The 6-foot-9, 230-pound sophomore is averaging 19.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. The cats are turning their season around and I’ve officially put my paper sack back in the closet. Okay, so I broke it out last night as my Denver Broncos suddenly forgot how to STOP another team from scoring.
I dunno, maybe their Defensive line’s made up of Chargers fans. They certainly didn’t want to get in their way or disturb their flow.
There’s always next year. I pulled that tired old phrase out of the drawer it went into after St. Louis’ season ended.
