It's heartbreaking when young people throw their future away like this. I hope and pray someone can reach him before it's too late. - Joi

Here we were thinking that JaJuan Spillman had seen the light, getting things in perspective, preparing for a great future on the basketball field. No such luck, not if the report in the Courier-Journal is true, and there’s no reason to doubt it, that Spillman was arrested early Thursday on DUI charges for the second time in two years.

Only this time, it’s worse: the drunken episode is spiced up with charges of using marijuana, carrying no insurance, and possessing an unlicensed concealed deadly weapon.

Ugly and despicable. Spillman had an incredible future in front of him and tosses it away. Just like that, the latest casualty in a growing list. For nothing. Anyone think he was even having fun in his condition? No way he could convince even his closest pals.

Still another embarrassing incident. Still more attrition. This has got to stop. The waste and the recyclables have to be sorted before any sense of normalcy returns to the basketball program. Who’s next for the cheap thrills?
