General Burnside State Park’s Gorgeous Golf Course (Pictures)

General Burnside State Park's Golf Course

The gorgeous renovated golf course at General Burnside Island is located on an island surrounded by Lake Cumberland in Somerset.

Designer Brian Ault also designed Dale Hollow’s Golf Course and Hidden Cove, which are both recognized by Golf Digest.  At 6,394 yards, the course features Zoysia fairways, bent grass trees and greens.

General Burnside State Park's Golf Course

General Burnside Island State Park was named for the Civil War General Ambrose Burnside. Burnside led patrols along the Cumberland River keeping vigilant lookout for Confederate soldiers.

The Park offers camping, fishing, picnicking (with grills, two picnic shelters – one with a restroom – picnic tables, and a playground), and has a six lane launching boat ramp for easy access for a fun-filled day on the beautiful lake.

General Burnside State Park's Golf Course

I’m creating a photo album for General Burnside and will be adding other pictures I took yesterday in the next few days. I was just especially anxious to get these pictures up – as a means of encouraging you to get out and golf at one of the State Park System’s gorgeous courses (See Kentucky State Park Golf Courses). The weather is absolutely IDEAL for it and the scenery will take your breath away.

We have the pictures to prove it!

See General Burnside State Park for more information.

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is Renovating their Golf Course

September 23, 2015 by Joi Sigers Leave a Comment

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park Golf Course

Pennyrile Forest State Park’s Golf Course

The beautiful golf course at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park  will undergo a renovation this fall and winter.

As a result, the course will be closed starting Sept. 25 and will reopen in the spring of 2016. The dry summer weather has been especially tough on the greens. The greens at the 18-hole course will be aerated and reseeded this fall.

Season passholders will be allowed to play at other nearby courses at Lake Barkley State Resort Park and Mineral Mounds State Park. They will be given a prorated pass for 2016.

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park has a lodge, cottages, restaurant and hiking trails. The resort is 20 miles northwest of Hopkinsville on KY 109 N. From Interstate 69, exit at Dawson Springs and take KY 109 south.
