Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park's Lodge

Kentucky Dam Village Lodge: The most beautiful view is from the back!

All of the Kentucky State Parks and Kentucky State Resort Parks are amazing and Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park (Gilbertsville, Ky.) is no exception. With Kentucky Lake as the main attraction, Kentucky Dam Village is one of our favorite destinations!  The view is second to none and the people are ridiculously warm and friendly.

Located in the gorgeous Land Between the Lakes region, Kentucky Dam Village is the sort of place you have to see to appreciate the beauty and experience to appreciate the magic.  Within minutes of one of Kentucky’s best restaurants, The Catfish Kitchen, Kentucky Dam Village SRP also has a restaurant: Harbor Lights Restaurant.  The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

Located on the lower level of the beautiful Village Inn Lodge, Harbor Lights Restaurant offers a stunning view of the marina.  My husband and I always get a seat near the huge windows to enjoy the view as we eat the outstanding food.  The trees, squirrels, birds, and flowers compete with the water, sailboats, and big blue sky for our attention.

I can never decide which sight is my favorite so I always call it a draw and just soak it all in.

Upstairs, in the Lodge, you can also enjoy the beautiful and relaxing view.  You can sit and read in the lovely lodge, visit the gift shop for local Kentucky crafts, wares, trinkets, and food, or even play a game of checkers with the over-sized checker set that is always left out for visitors.

Kentucky Dam Village Lodge Swimming Pool

Kentucky Dam Village Lodge’s Swimming Pool – So Inviting

Swimming Pool and Wading Pool at Kentucky Dam Village’s Lodge

As you can see in the picture above, the lodge swimming pool has a gorgeous view of Kentucky Lake. Sit by the pool, relaxing, as you watch sailboats on the lake. Heaven!  As you’ll notice in the pictures (below), there is also a very convenient wading pool beside the pool – with a gate separating the two.

Cottages at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

Kentucky Dam Village has 68 cottages – more choices for overnight accommodations than any other state park. You can choose a one, two, or three-bedroom cottage with one or two baths. Tableware, cooking utensils, and linen are provided. Open year-round. Cottages are available by late afternoon. Check-out by 11:00 AM, Central Time.

Pets are not allowed (with the exception of service dogs).

Kentucky Dam Village State Park Golf Course

Beautiful Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park Golf Course

Kentucky Dam Village State Park Golf Course

One of the most beautiful courses of the Kentucky State Parks Golf Trail is at Kentucky Dam Village. This par 72 course plays 6,704 yards from the back tees.

A fully equipped pro shop is open year-round with rental riding carts, pull carts, and clubs available.  This is one of my husband’s favorite golf courses in the entire state. He’s an avid golfer, so I’d take his word for it. I’m not a golfer, but I ride shotgun with my husband (I fancy myself his caddy) enough to know what a great looking, well-maintained, and exceptionally cared for golf course looks like. This one is absolutely beautiful. The trees, the greens, the flowers, the signs -everything’s perfect.

It’s obvious that those who are in charge of this golf course take their work seriously. They have a lot of pride in their golf course… and it shows.

Golf packages are offered. Call 800-325-0146 or 270-362-4271 to make golf package reservations. Course open year-round, weather permitting. Pro Shop: 1-800-295-1877.

Camping at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

Kentucky Dam Village SRP’s campground has 219 paved campsites with water and electricity hookups, a grocery store, three dump stations, and four central service buildings with showers and rest rooms. Air Camp for aviators offers the opportunity to camp by your aircraft. The facility has one central service building.  Gasoline not available.  Reservations are accepted. Check-out by 1:00 PM Central Time.

Kentucky Lake and the Kentucky Dam Marina

Beautiful Kentucky Lake is waiting for you!

Boating and Fishing at the Kentucky Dam Marina

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park’s boat dock features overnight dockage, rental fishing boats, pontoon boats, and ski boats. Open March 1-October 31. $ for rentals. Marina: (270) 362-8386.

You’ll fall in love with fishing at Kentucky Dam Village. Already in love with fishing?  You’ll fall harder! With an abundance of largemouth, smallmouth, Kentucky and white bass, bluegill, channel and blue catfish, crappie, and sauger, Kentucky Lake is the perfect year-round vacation spot for the avid angler!

Trails at Kentucky Dam Village SRP

Kentucky Dam Village is just minutes (about 12 miles) from the northern entrance to the Land Between the Lakes. The Land Between the Lakes is home to more than 200 miles of trails and abandoned roads winding through backwoods and fields and alongside peaceful lakeshores.  Talk about a relaxing walk in paradise!

Horseback Riding

Enjoy a guided 45-minute scenic ride through the woods and along the lakeshore. The Rocking U, LLC provides the guides, safety helmets, and a unique way to observe the wildlife and their habitat of Western Kentucky. Some of the wildlife spotted includes birds, deer, wild turkey, raccoons, foxes and waterfowl.

Trail rides go out on the hour 9 am to 7pm Memorial Weekend – Labor Day. Rides are $18.00 per person, with pony rides also available for $5.00. Group scheduling and reservations are available by calling the stables, 270-362-4276 extension 370.

Recreational Activities

Tennis courts are available at Kentucky Dam Village. Overnight guests can even “check out” sports equipment.

Relaxation

If you want to get away from it all and remind yourself what real relaxation feels like, you HAVE to get to Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park as soon as possible – if not sooner!  There’s something magical about being surrounded by a beautiful lake, birds, and thick, lush trees that Kentucky is known for.  Whenever my husband and I stroll the grounds behind the Kentucky Dam Village Lodge, I’m always struck by the fact that all you hear are birds singing alongside what I affectionately call “peaceful sounds of the lake.” You know, water rippling as a gentle wind blows…

It’s a soundtrack that can play for me anytime.
