The Homeplace – in the beautiful Land Between the Lakes (LBL) – is history brought to life. As soon as you step out of the Welcome/Educational Center, you step back in time to life on a rural farm in the mid-19th century.
Enjoy a walk (at your own pace) through the farm, farmhouse, and various buildings that are decorated as they would have been long, long ago. You’ll even see “interpreters” throughout the farm, dressed as they would have been at this time in history. You can even visit with them as they go about their chores.
A favorite part of the farm with children (and me!) is the animals. There are stables, a pig pen, and numerous chickens walking about. During the summer, you can even get watermelon rinds to feed the pigs – something they enjoy almost as much as I do.
There are a number of events that take place at the Homeplace throughout the year. I try to stay on top of them here on Genuine Kentucky, and you can also stay abreast of the activities by visiting LBL’s official website page for The Homeplace.
