Smothers Park is located on the Riverfront in beautiful downtown Owensboro, Ky. Kids and adults, alike, won’t be able to get enough of this stunningly beautiful park. Fountains, swinging metal benches, a concession stand, restrooms, and a children’s park that tops all children’s parks all make this a must see attraction.
Smothers Park features three gorgeous waterfalls, in addition to a cascading waterfall – unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The sounds from these waterfalls makes this one of the most relaxing spots in the whole county!
Shelton’s Memorial is a beautiful tribute to the men and women who have given all for you and me. You’ll want to take pictures as you marvel at just how moving the tribute is.
Lazy Dayz Children’s Playground is also a one of a kind masterpiece. Smothers Park’s playground is wheelchair accessible and is open from 7 am to 10 pm. The ground features a state of the art, extremely soft and wonderfully safe material. When I first stepped onto it, my feet thought they were on a giant wonderful pillow.
The playground is extra, extra special and kids will think they’re in Paradise.
As far as I’m concerned, they won’t be wrong.
Enjoy lunch at Bee Bops (50’s Style diner), then walk over to the Riverfront for an afternoon you’ll talk about for months. Spend hours enjoying the sights and sounds of the Riverfront and Smothers Park as you walk along the gorgeous RiverWalk, then step over to El Toribio’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant for dinner.
We’re understandably VERY proud of our Riverfront and Smothers Park here in Owensboro, Kentucky and can’t wait for you to visit. Enjoy the pictures below but, know this, they don’t even come close to doing justice to this gorgeous park.
Can you even imagine how extra special Winter Wonderland and Barbecue Festivals are going to be now?!
