I probably say it, like, a million times a year, but I honestly wouldn’t want to live anywhere but Kentucky. Our family has lived in some other wonderfully beautiful and beautifully wonderful states (Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Florida – if we’d just hit Idaho and Georgia, we’d have a certain branch of the alphabet entirely covered), but Kentucky has always – and always will be – home sweet home.
The Bluegrass State has delicious food, gorgeous animals/birds, breathtaking scenery, the most exciting college basketball programs in the country, friendly people, and FOUR DISTINCT SEASONS. Having lived in a couple of states that, basically had two, I will never take our four wonderful seasons for granted. EVER.
If you get right down to it, I think my favorite season is the one I’m in or the one that’s coming around the corner. If you get really in touch and in tune with the great outdoors, you can almost “smell” the next season making its way to town.
I know, I’m talking that tree hugger language again, but I can’t help myself. I tried.
There isn’t one of the four seasons that I don’t love wildly – but, having said all of that – it’s kind of hard not to be extra excited about autumn.
- baseball pennant races, followed by the World Series (Get those bats swinging, Cardinals!)
- college basketball
- college football
- Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks
- pumpkin everything
- NFL
- outside pets can actually go back to enjoying being outside pets
- trees showing off their Autumn wardrobe
- hot chocolate
- crock pot chili
- Halloween
- no more mowing (not that I actually mow, but still…)
- you can start planning your Thanksgiving meal!
- Christmas is around the corner!
Kentucky is a real beauty all year, but she just outdoes herself in Autumn – and the show’s about to begin.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and, in the case of Kentucky, I’d say that’s 100 percent true. We could use up all the words in the English language (and even borrow some from other languages), but we could never truly describe how beautiful or special our beloved state is.
You’ll have to just see for yourself in our growing collection of pictures of Kentucky! Also, be sure to check out our Pictures of the Day.
