Grayson’s Landing at Rough River Dam State Resort Park
As long as you don’t have to eat gluten free (like quite a few of us these days), the Kentucky State Resort Parks are a really cool place to enjoy a meal. I really miss sitting in my favorite State Resort Parks’ restaurants – supporting them while enjoying the view AND the locally made food.
We used to eat at them frequently but, since they don’t have gluten free options, all I can enjoy now is the coffee.
However, if you don’t have to follow a restrictive gluten free diet, be sure to keep the State Resort Park restaurants in mind when choosing a place to eat…. even on Thanksgiving!
The following is a press release from the Kentucky State Parks:
What has 2,000 pounds of turkey, 1,500 pounds of sweet potatoes and 750 pounds of country ham? Don’t forget the 4,300 pieces of fried chicken, the 1,300 pounds of roast beef and 12,000 rolls.
The answer is the Kentucky State Parks’ Thanksgiving Day buffet at 16 of the resort parks across the state on Nov. 26.
The parks have hosted the buffet for more than four decades and usually serve about 10,000 customers on Thanksgiving Day.
The buffet will be served from noon to 8 p.m. on Nov. 26 at most parks.
The buffet will include soups, cheeses and salads for starters. Entrees include turkey and dressing, baked ham, carved roast beef and fried chicken. Vegetables include old-fashioned candied yams, country-style green beans and mashed potatoes with giblet gravy.
The cost for the buffet will be $18.99 plus tax (drink included) for adults; $8.99 for children ages 6-12; and children 5 and under are free.
Save some room for dessert! The parks will be baking 340 pies – including pecan and pumpkin.
Kenlake State Resort Park will serve the Thanksgiving buffet from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and General Butler State Resort Park will serve 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park will be offering a reduced buffet. Guests should note that the restaurant and lodge at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park is closed for repairs.
