As I’ve already written, when we moved to a larger server, we lost a lot of posts and reviews. As luck would have it, the longest review I ever wrote (for the Grand River’s Variety! Music, Memories, and More show) was amongst the casualties.
Eh, that’s life. Frankly, if that’s the worst thing that happens to me this month, I’m thrilled – and blessed. Besides, there’s more words where those words came from, so I’ll just rare back and do it all again!
The first show we saw at the Badgett Theatre in Grand Rivers was the Variety! Music, Memories, and More show.Ã? I’m certain I smiled the entire two hours.Ã? The only time I wasn’t smiling was when I was drinking my Diet Coke.Ã? You can’t smile and sip at the same time.Ã? Try it.Ã? I did smile through the popcorn, however.Ã? That can be done.
Variety! Music, Memories, and More is a Branson-style family show that showcases an amazingly colorful and talented cast of professionalÃ? actors, singers, comedians, musicians,Ã? and dancers.Ã? Ã? As my husband and I were telling a few family members last night, the Variety show is just pure, fun entertainment front to back.Ã? It can’t be beat for an evening (or afternoon) of fun for the whole family.Ã? It doesn’t matter what age a person is, they want to have fun!Ã? Ã? Badgett Playhouse is the place to do it.Ã? Ã? Ã? I’d love to see more families taking their children to these shows.Ã? I know it’d instill in them a desire to play musical insturments, sing, dance, and…well…Ã? embrace the arts.
There are far worse things kids can embrace!
This particular show is exactly what the name implies – a variety show.Ã? There’s singing, dancing, skits, a live band, and more fun than you can imagine.Ã? The very talented cast of professional singers, dancers, and musicians take on Motown, Country, Oldies, Rock & Roll, and even Disco.Ã?Â
Whether your memories go back 10 years or 50 years, this show brings them to the forefront.Ã? With each song you remember where you were when you first heard it.Ã? I noticed an adorable older lady (she had to be in her 80’s, maybe 90’s) in the row in front of us – when she recognized a song, she’d nod and smile.Ã? When they paid tribute to our brave armed forces, past and present, she wiped a tear from her eye, causing me to wipe away about 20!
Inside of 5 minutes, we were both laughing again at the antics of this cast of characters.
It was the type of evening that, when you leave, you know you’re taking away a lifetime of memories with you.
I just can’t encourage you enough to start going to the Badgett Theater shows.Ã? Ã? Gas prices have thrown us all a loop, and I read that most people are looking within their own state for vacation ideas – whether it’s for a day,Ã? a weekend, or a week.Ã? We’re extremely lucky in Kentucky (catchy, much).Ã? We have a wealth of things to do and see.Ã? Just in the Land Between the Lakes region, alone, you could find enough great entertainment and fun to fill up an entire week…. with more to spare!
