An Old Kentucky Garden Party Set For April 27 at My Old Kentucky Home
The Kentucky State Parks Foundation, in partnership with Preservation Kentucky, will host the second annual “An Old Kentucky Garden Party” on April 27 at My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown.
This fundraiser for the two organizations features Southern hors d’oeuvres; Mint Juleps and Kentucky spirits from Barton 1792, Four Roses and Maker’s Mark Distilleries; and the King’s Highway Band and Stephen Foster Story Singers. There will also be guided tours of Federal Hill; a new photography exhibit by Linda Bruckheimer; a book signing with historian, author and former Bardstown mayor Dixie Hibbs; specialty garden items and bird feeders designed by Jon Carloftis; and, a live auction with antiques and hospitality items.
The event will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Federal Hill mansion at the park.
Tickets are $75 per person and may be purchased online at www.kentuckystateparksfoundation.org or by calling Preservation Kentucky at 502-871-4570. Paid reservations are required and tickets will not be sold at the door.
The event takes place on the grounds surrounding historic Federal Hill near the landscaped gardens designed by Kentucky native Jon Carloftis, an award-winning garden designer, author and lecturer. The carriage house will feature a new series of photographs entitled Kentucky: Off the Beaten Path by Kentucky native Linda Bruckheimer, who with her husband, Hollywood filmmaker and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, renovated much of downtown Bloomfield. Kentucky native Dixie Hibbs, historian, curator and author, will sign several of her books, including Bardstown: Hospitality, History and Bourbon; Prohibition in Bardstown; and, Spirits of Wickland Mansion.
