My name is Joi (“Joy”) and I was born and raised in Madisonville, Kentucky. My family currently lives in Owensboro, Kentucky. Owensboro is, in my opinion, one of the greatest towns on earth. Friendly people, great stores, quiet parks, and plenty of wonderful restaurants, including the legendary Moonlite.
In addition to being an avid cook (my food blog is “Get Cooking“), St. Louis Cardinals and UK Wildcats fanatic, amateur photographer, bird watcher, and animal lover extraordinaire, I work from home as a web publisher, writer, web designer, and blogger.
Genuine Kentucky is a family-owned and operated web publishing venture. I do the writing, research, web design, graphics, social media, restaurant reviews, and so forth. My husband, Mike, takes care of the business end. He also gathers news and ideas for me to write about and keeps me in a constant supply of coffee.
Our daughters (Emily, Brittany, and Stephany) also contribute photos, ideas, Starbucks cards to support my addiction, and inspiration.
We all love exploring our beautiful state and telling others about what we’ve seen, heard, felt, and tasted. I write just like I talk and will always give you my straight-up, honest opinion. I am, by nature, an extremely positive person – so, generally, (for example) if I don’t like a restaurant – I simply don’t say anything.
If I like “most” things about it, I’ll try to focus on those things!
We’re here to add to the whole internet experience, not take away from it – and, besides, there’s too much negativity in the world as it is.
Thanks for visiting Genuine Kentucky. You truly honor us with your presence. Please come back often and let us get to know YOU by leaving comments and/or e-mailing us. Please feel free to contact us any time.
