I love all of the Kentucky State Parks and, honestly, don’t have a clear cut favorite. Having said that, if I was offered the chance to spend an entire weekend at just ONE state park, Kenlake would be one of the first to come to mind.
There are a couple of reasons why it’s one of my favorite parks:
- Kentucky Lake
- Great coffee
- Big, beautiful historical lodge
- Minutes from Willow Pond, The Hitching Post, and Belews (all in Aurora)
- Minutes from the Land Between the Lakes
- Within reach of two other favorite State Parks: Lake Barkley and Kentucky Dam Village
- Beautiful landscaping
- Did I mention Kentucky Lake??
Kenlake State Resort Park almost always has something going on – which is yet another reason to love this park. Next month Kenlake is hosting its Neighborhood Night Free Concert on Aug. 21 from 5-9:30 p.m.
The park restaurant will be open 5-9 p.m., and special lodging rates for Thursday night, starting at $54.95, for a lodge room are available.
The free concert is a great warmup for the 25th anniversary of the Hot August Blues Festival Aug. 22-23 at Kenlake. Festival tickets are on sale (cash only) at the park lodge.
