I think it’s happened a couple of times…. I know it’s happening right now.
The husband and I ate at Chipotle Mexican Grill (Chipotle’s to its friends) in Evansville, Indiana yesterday. 499 North Green River Road, to be exact. Neither of us have quit talking about it since.
If you’ve read any of my recent reviews, you know that my body up and decided that gluten (bread, pasta…) was certain poison a while back. While I consider this to be an annoyance, I’m forever thankful thankful it didn’t turn on chocolate, sweet tea, or coffee.
Having to take something extra into consideration when dining out can be a pain, but some restaurants (like Chipotle) make it absolutely painless. Basically, if you have to eat gluten free, all you have to avoid is their flour burritos. Just as well, you’ll probably like their corn shells better anyway. They’re uncommonly delicious.
We both ordered “Burrito Bowls” and chose cilantro-lime rice, grilled chicken, grilled peppers, grilled corn, and black beans. I got mild salsa and he went with hot. We both had our burrito bowl topped off with cheese because it was the right thing to do. He also had sour cream and guacamole added to the glorious production.
With tortilla chips & salsa and a couple of Cokes, we had one fantastic meal.
Even the tortilla chips were more delicious than most. I thought, “See… Now they’re just showing off.”
The young woman who built our Burrito Bowls for us couldn’t have been more helpful or sweeter if she’d been family. When my husband told her it was our first time at a Chipotle, she even took the time to make excellent recommendations and told us to let her know how it was when we finished.
It shouldn’t be uncommon to come across restaurant employees who honestly care about their guests, but there you have it. Every facet of our visit was absolute perfection and if the Evansville, Indiana staff is any indication of the kind of people Chipotle employees, they have got it all figured out.

Who do I have to see to fix this?! Seriously, I would eat there so often they’d reserve me a parking spot. I’d have lunch and dinner there throughout the week. I’d eat there 8 days a week…
Okay, sometimes I get going and don’t know when to stop.
There are Kentucky Chipotle locations in Louisville, Lexington, Florence, Erlanger, and others. Not Owensboro, mind you, but I digress.
Fortunately, until I can somehow lure them here, the Evansville location (499 North Green River Road) is a short drive and is absolute perfection – so it’s all good.
Whether you have to eat gluten free or can eat all the gluten one person can handle, you’re going to fall head over heels in love with Chipotle. Like us, you’ll wonder how you ever got through life without them.
Do you think it’d do any good to tell them Johnny Depp was born in Owensboro?
